Create a MCQ
Step 1: Create a MCQ
- Go to the display Pedagogical tools > MCQ > My MCQ.
- Click on the button New MCQ, a window appears.
- Enter a designation, a subject, a theme (visible to students), a level and a category (visible only to you), then validate.
If you tick the box Share with other teachers via the institution's library, the MCQ will be put online as soon as the first question is created.

Step 2: Add the questions
- Select the QCM in the list on the left: its contents (Entry of questions, Execution modalities, Results) appears on the right of the screen.
- In the tab Entry of questions click on the line Add a question as many times as necessary. Each time, PRONOTE lets you choose the type of question you want.
- In the window that appears, for each question, enter:
- the title and the question's terms,
- the number of points the question is worth in the field Scale,
- the compulsory/optional nature of the question and its level of difficulty.
The compulsory/optional nature of a question and the level of difficulty is not visible to students; this information is used to limit randomness in the selection of questions (see tab Execution modalities).
- the title and the question's terms,
- Configure the suggested responses - this configuration differs according to the type of question chosen.
- To use the MCQ as a competence evaluation, define one or more competencies for each question: click on Add a competence, then tick the competencies to be evaluated in the pop-up window.
By default, a student who answers the question correctly obtains the level Proficiency level satisfactory; to automatically assign the level Proficiency level very good, click on the colored dot. A wrong answer is shown by the level Proficiency level unsatisfactory. - Click on Validate - you can then add as many questions as necessary.
Step 3: Define the default execution modalities
- Select the MCQ from the list on the left.
- On the right-hand side, click on the tab Execution modalities.
- Then specify the execution modalities:
- Instructions on the cover page of the MCQ - fill in this field if you wish to add a set of instructions valid for the entire MCQ, visible before the execution of the MCQ.
- Distribution of the corrected copies - define if and when the corrected copy is to be proposed to the student; if you choose the option Corrected copy available as of a date, you'll set the distribution date later, when you propose the MCQ to your class,
- Presentation of the questions - define how many questions are to be asked and in what order,
- Terms of execution - specify whether the execution time should be limited, and whether you allow students to execute the MCQ several times,
- Personalization per student (extra time and fewer questions) - this option can be customized on a student-by-student basis,
- Rules for the correction - specify whether you accept incomplete but correct answers, as long as no wrong answers are given at the same time, or whether you wish to take into account percentage points defined for each answer,
- Student's perception - if you allow the student to comment on the level of difficulty experienced.
Once students have started answering, it is no longer possible to modify the execution modalities of the MCQ.
Step 4: Simulate the student's vision
Select a MCQ and click on the button
Simulate the student's vision.
