  • Optimize the Study Halls

Instead of optimizing timetables, you can optimize the Study Halls, that is, to distribute the number of students or classes more evenly in Study Halls. To do this, EDT modifies the timetables in line with the constraints, without de-positioning of a single course. It is preferable to carry out this optimization before creating Study Hall courses.
  1. Once you have placed all the courses, go to the menu Calculation > Optimize Study Halls.
  2. On the right, choose to optimize according to the number of classes or students. The number is displayed slot by slot in the grid on the left.
  3. Tick the ranges to be taken into account.
  4. Select the Standard method to begin with.
  5. In the frame Occupancy, EDT indicates the maximum number of classes per time slot and the average number of classes in Study Hall. Optimization will smooth out this variance.
  6. Click on the button Launch the optimization.
  7. If you think the result can be improved, run the advanced optimization once the standard optimization has been completed.
