  • Make manual safeguards/archives

Safeguarding and archiving allow you to ensure the continuity of your work without any loss of data. In particular, it is advisable to make a safeguard of the database after each important stage in the creation of the timetable. After the start of the new school year, you may need to make another safeguard in order to rework the timetables.

Safeguarding a database manually

  1. From an open database, go to menu File > Create a copy of the base.
  2. Select the folder in which to save the copy.
  3. Save the copy of the base, naming it so that you remember which step it corresponds to.

Archiving a database manually

  1. From an open database, go to menu File > Make an archive > Compressed (*.zip) or Encrypted (*.archs).
A compressed archive (extension *.zip) can be extracted and explored manually; on the other hand, an encrypted archive (extension *.archs) cannot be read without prior recovery in EDT).
  2. A confirmation window informs you that you have switched to Exclusive Usage mode: click on Yes.
  3. Select a location on your computer, name the archive, tick the items you wish to compress in the folder and click on Save.
  4. Click on the button Quit of the Exclusive Usage mode.
