  • Merge two bases

This command is particularly useful for merging the middle school and high school databases when the timetables have been designed independently by two different people. It is advisable to make a copy of the database in use before proceeding with the merge. If you are using the Network version, you must belong to the ADMIN group to undertake this operation.

  1. Go to the menu Imports/Exports > EDT > Merge with.
  2. Select the *.edt file to be merged and validate.
  3. In the pop-up window, tick the data to be imported and validate.
  4. If EDT detects a resource that does not exist in the database in use, it opens a window:
    • if you wish to add a resource, leave Add < this resource > and validate;
    • if the resource already exists, but is spelled differently, establish the match by double-clicking in the column Matching.
  5. In a new window, the merge report is displayed. If the timetables of the two databases conflict, you can consult the list of Un-slotted courses: they are imported but are unplaced.

     If the second database is a copy of the first, it's best to import the changes into the open database via the command Import/Export > EDT > Import the timetables.
