Make safeguards/archives manually
Safeguards and archives enable you to continue working safely and without data loss. In particular, it is advisable to make a safeguard of the database after each important stage in the creation of the timetables. After the start of the new school year, you may need to make a safeguard in order to rework them.
Safeguard a base manually
- From an open database, go to menu File > Create a copy of the base.
- Select the folder in which the copy is to be saved.
- Save the copy of the base, naming it so that you remember which step it corresponds to.
Archive a base manually
- From an open database, go to menu File > Make an archive: a window appears.
- By default, the currently open base is designated, but you can also designate another base.
- Select the type of archive to be generated: either compressed (extension *.zip - the folder can be unzipped and explored manually) or encrypted (extension *.archs - no item in the folder can be read without prior recovery in EDT).
- Click on the button Archive, select a location on your computer, name the archive, tick the items you wish to compress in the folder, then click on Save.
