What's the point of entering room capacity?

If the room capacity is entered, EDT warns you when the number of participants exceeds the room capacity.
When you are in the displays Timetable/Daily management and absences > Rooms > Occupancy schedule, you can identify rooms occupied beyond their capacity using the dedicated extraction function available in the menu Extract.
