  • How do I install the Client EDT on a shared drive accessible to all users?

This method eliminates the need to install the Client on each user workstation. The following instructions must be followed to ensure correct operation.

On the workstation where you are installing the Client

  1. Install the Client on the shared drive.
  2. Connect to the Server for the first time.

Automatic updating of the Client is possible after the Server parameters have been communicated to it for the first time.

On all user workstations

  1. Install a shortcut to the Client on the shared drive.
  2. Make all subdirectories and files in the directory C:\ProgramData\IndexEducation\ accessible to all users with full control: the network administrator can apply these rights to all user workstations, for example by applying Group Policy Objects (GPOs) or logon scripts (DOS batch, vbscript, etc.).

This configuration enables a copy of the installation to be made on the user workstation when the Client is launched. Local installation allows:
  • the update of the Client installed on the shared drive,
  • database cache management to reduce loading times (especially at the end of the year),
  • the operating of the Client on the user workstation when the shared folder is no longer accessible (network outage, file server reboot).
