  • Some groups have no alignment at the end of the generation. What can you do?

If the distribution mode By distributing the groups in X alignments is not conclusive, some groups are displayed without alignment, with the mention Undefined.

This may be because your institution has too few classes to accommodate all the groups. If so, you can test the generation mode by reserving an extra slot for the common core: with this mode, EDT divides students into classes according to their specializations in order to free up a common gap hour for all students in the same class.

  1. In the panel Generation of the groups, select the mode By reserving an additional slot for the core curriculum.
  2. Enter the maximum population per class in the corresponding field, or click on the icon on the right to have this number calculated automatically by EDT.
  3. Click on Generate the necessary groups
    • in the panel Necessary structures, tab Groups, groups appear with the alignment to which they belong (A, B, C for the 11th grade; A, B, C, D for the 10th grade);
    • in the tab Distribution in the classes recommended by EDT, groups without courses on the same alignment are combined in a single distribution; click on the button to transform each distribution into a class.

    If students are already in classes you don't want to modify, don't use this generation mode; go directly to mode By minimize the links between the groups.

If this distribution method is also inconclusive, use the mode By minimize the links between the groups: this allows you to generate the groups you need, giving you maximum flexibility for calculating your timetable. The placement of the courses will determine the alignment of the groups, bearing in mind that it will take more than three slots to place all the specialization courses.
