  • Brevet 2026 - Export periodic and annual averages to LSU for 8th grade classes

2026 Brevet Reform

In 2026, the points awarded for the continuous assessment component - representing 40% of the final grade—are no longer calculated based on proficiency levels in the 8 platform components (end-of-cycle 4 assessment) but rather on annual averages in all subjects.

These new procedures affect the conditions for uploading periodic assessments to LSU and require a series of verifications on the exported data.

The new PRONOTE Brevet form:
- displays the subjects required for continuous assessment,
- calculates the annual average, or allows the continuous assessment mark to be entered in the event of a non-representative periodic average.

Step 1: Verify the prerequisites for exporting to LSU

1. Configuring services by class

1. Positioning "with grades"

All classes must be configured "with grades".

Go to the display Resources > Classes >  Services per class. Verify the LSU positioning of the 8th grade classes in the column LSU Pos.

Classes assessed exclusively by competencies may continue with this evaluation method, even with a LSU positioning "with grades."

2. Frequency of the grading

Grading must be done on a semester or trimester basis.

In Resources > Classes >  Services per class, verify the column titled Grading

2. Assigning an exam to 8th grade students

Assign a Brevet series to 8th grade classes in the tab Results > Grade School/General Training Certificate (Brevet and CFG) > Entry of Grade School/General Training Certificate forms. The series is assigned by default to all students in the class; customize the series for certain students in the list of students if necessary.

3. Validation of the ETM (MEF)

All 8th grade classes must have a ETM (MEF) that complies with national nomenclature. This ETM determines the list of subjects to be exported to LSU.

Go to Resources > Classes > List to verify it.

4. Verification of SIECLE codes

The SIECLE codes for the subjects in the grading services must be entered so that PRONOTE can identify the subjects that count toward the brevet and export them to LSU.

Go to the display Resources > Subjects >  List. If the subjects do not have a SIECLE code, activate the command Imports/Exports > SIECLE > Recover the codifications then recover the file ExportXML_Nomenclature.zip.

The SIECLE code for NLD (DNL) subjects is that of the discipline taught, not that of the language of instruction.

5. Verification of the grading services

At the end of each period, you export the report cards with the students' data. Some of this data must be included in the export in order to prevent it from being blocked.

You can verify them in the display Report card > To LSU > Summary of the assessments exported to LSU.

1. All the grading services must include:

  • an average,
  • an appraisal,
  • program elements.

2. The annotation "exempt" is only possible for the following subjects:

  • Physical Education,
  • FL2
  • language and literature, in 8th grade International

3. Non-representative average:

You can allow teachers to indicate that a periodic average is not representative in one or more subjects.

To activate the option, go to Parameters > Evaluations > Grading, then tick Allow the teachers of 8th, 10th, and 11th Grades to indicate that a periodic average is not representative.

If the average is not representative, it is replaced by the value "Pending" in the export to LSU. The annual average transmitted to LSU must be entered in the Brevet file from Results > Brevet and CFG > Entry of Grade School/General Training Certificate (Brevet and CFG) forms per student.

4. One subject = one service

  • If subjects are evaluated as sub-services, you must transform these sub-services into services. If, for example, Moral and Civic Education is a sub-service within History and Geography, you must transform it into a service.

  • If a subject is taken as a NLD (DNL) For the 8th grade International classes, you must create a Non-linguistic discipline (NLD) service that is separate from the subject grading service. If it has been created as a sub-service, you must transform it into a service.

For the service to be labeled as a Non-linguistic discipline (NLD) service, you must indicate this in Resources > Classes > Services per class. In the column EM for the concerned service, double-click and then select as election modality D-NLD.

  • If a second foreign language (FL2) is present in the student's options, a FL2 grading service must be created for this student's language class or group.

  • If the student is taking supplementary studies, you must create a grading service. The SIECLE code for the subject of the service must be that of the supplementary study.

6. Classes or services without grades

If classes are evaluated partially or entirely by competencies, the services can be kept "without grades," but teachers must assign an "LSU grade" that will serve as a periodic average, either by automatic conversion or manual entry.

Go to Report card > Entry of the appraisals > Entry of teachers' appraisals per subject, then choose a class and service. Click on the symbol at the top of column Gr. LSU, to generate a score out of 20.

The grade for LSU is calculated based on the points awarded for each proficiency level. These levels are defined in Parameters > Evaluations > Proficiency levels.

7. Mandatory reporting of annual averages

The annual average is calculated automatically as the average of the periodic averages.
For classes evaluated by competencies, the annual average is the average of the "LSU grades."

Manual entry of the average in the event of a non-representative average

If a periodic average has been declared as non-representative (NR) in one or more subjects, the annual average cannot be calculated automatically. The teacher must then enter it manually in the Brevet file so that the student can be exported to LSU

Step 2: Export the assessments

1. Verify that the data is exportable

To export the report cards to LSU, you must be a user of the group Administrator.

At the end of the trimester or semester, you must export the averages for all compulsory and optional ETM (MEF) subjects for the student to LSU. (8th grade, 8th grade international, 8th grade ULIS, 8th grade SEGPA, etc.).
- Any subject for which no information is provided will render the student ineligible for export.
- Subjects without a SIECLE code can be exported but cannot be taken into account for the Brevet's continuous assessment.

At the end of the year, the annual averages for each subject will be exported along with the periodic assessment for the last period. LSU calculates the final grade that counts toward the continuous assessment for the Brevet.

Go to the display Report cards > To LSU > Summary of the assessments exported to LSU. Consult the column LSU to find out if the student's data can be exported:

Special cases:

  • If students have several grading services in the same subject that counts toward the Brevet, the average of the two subjects is reported.
  • If students change classes during a period, the periodic average of the student's last class is retained.

2. Launch data export

  1. Go to the menu Imports/Exports > LSU > Export the periodic assessments to LSU.
  1. In the pop-up window, select the grading periods and classes to export by clicking the buttons .

  2. Specify the identity of the person signing the report cards.

  3. Then select the option To Omogen. If you do not have an Omogen (formerly Netsynchro) certificate, you can access this service by logging in via your academy's (Regional Education Authority) portal.
