  Are trainees automatically reported as absent for meals during the internship period, and are their meals deducted?

No. Once the internship session has been created, you must cancel the courses for the concerned classes and groups by clicking in the column EDT.



Then go to the display Daily management and absences > Classes/Groups > Entry of absences in Client EDT, then click in the column Noon of the of the absent class/group to cancel their students' meal.
