  • Configure the use of discussions at your institution

By default, discussions are only active between 7am and 8pm, and this setting applies to all users.

Activate/Disactivate the discussions and define the times

  1. Go to the menu Parameters > Communication > Mail/SMS/Messaging service.
  2. In the frame Messaging service, tick/un-tick Activate the discussions and eventually, Activate the messaging service between the guardians.
Il est possible de limiter les discussions aux parents délégués en cochant l'option uniquement entre les responsables délégués.

    Note
By enabling messaging service between guardians, you authorize guardian representatives to:
    • Communicate through discussions with the other class representatives with whom they serve as representatives,
    • Distributing information or carrying out surveys among the class guardians for which they are the representatives.
You also authorize all guardians to request, via discussions, one of the guardian representatives of their child(ren)'s class. For this communication to take place in either direction, guardians must also have activated communication between guardians from their Webspace.

In all cases, neither non-represented parents nor students may communicate with each other, unless invited to do so by a teacher or staff member who is also present in the discussion.

Activate/deactivate SPC (PPMS) alerts and chat

SPC (PPMS) alerts and chat are separate from discussions and offline periods, which are linked. Tick the corresponding options to ensure they continue to work.

Set the discussion time slots

Once discussions have been activated at the institution-wide level, professors, staff, and administrators can manage their own offline hours:

  • For staff and teachers, go to the menu My preferences > Communication > Messaging service.
  • For the guardians, from the Parents Webspace, they must go to Personal information > Account, then, in the menu on the left, select Communication > Right to disconnect.

Limit discussions

Disable discussions for certain users

Discussions are active for all users, but you can hide them for a specific group of users. For example, you can choose to deactivate discussions for all students at the institution.
  1. Go to the module Internet Webspace, then select a Webspace.
  2. In the list on the left, un-tick the rubric Discussions.

Note
You can also prevent certain students from starting discussions by modifying their student form.

Deciding who to communicate with as a teacher

Teachers can choose which users they are willing to have a discussion with in the display Resources > My data > My personal information, in the rubric Communication.

Note
From their Webspace, teachers must go to My données > Account, then, in the menu on the left, select Communication > Contact preferences.
