  • I'm a new customer: first steps in deploying the hosted solution

After placing an order, the institution identifies the hosting manager and submits that person's contact information to the Index Education sales department via a form. That person, once provided with the necessary login elements, can then proceed with the deployment of the hosted solution.

Step No. 1: Receipt of login information

Once the hosting administrator has been registered, Index Education sends them the hosting number and a security code via email.

Make sure you have both pieces of information on hand.

At the same time, you'll receive the hosting console password via SMS.

Step No. 2: Connecting to the hosting console

The hosting administrator then logs in to a hosting console.

  1. Using a Web browser, go to the following address provided in the e-mail: https://swie.index-education.com/fr/console-hebergement-pronote.php
  2. Download the application and follow the assistant's instructions.

  3. From the workstation where the console is installed, double-click the shortcut on your desktop.
  4. Enter the hosting number (12 digits, sent via e-mail) and the hosting console password (14 characters, sent via SMS), then click on the button Connect to the hosting console.

  5. In the next window, enter the security code (10 digits, sent via e-mail), then click on the button Install the certificate.

    Note
The security code is only required the first time you log in from your workstation.
  6. A window will confirm that the certificate has been installed. Click on the button Connect to the hosting console.

  7. The console configuration page will then appear in a tab in your browser.
  8. When you log in for the first time, the hosting password customization window will appear. Enter your custom password, making sure to follow the password rules, and then re-enter it to confirm. Click on the button I confirm the new password.

  9. A window will appear confirming that the new password has taken into account. Click on OK.

    Note
We recommend that you keep the console access password in a safe place; otherwise, you will need to have it reset through the sales department or customer service.

Step No. 3: Creation of the first superadministrator

Connect to the console, and you will now be prompted to enter your surname and first name and to create your username and password: these identifiers are those of the base's first superadministrator and allow you to log in to the Client EDT and PRONOTE.

  1. Click the panel Server PRONOTE in the console.
  2. The page that appears prompts you to enter the superadministrator's contact information by entering:
    • the first name,
    • the surname,
    • the login identifier,
    • the password (to be confirmed).
  3. Click on the button Create the superadministrator.

  4. A window will confirm that the superadministrator has been created. Click on OK.

Step No. 4: Creating a new empty base

  1. From the panel Server PRONOTE, click on the button Create a base.

  2. In the pop-up window, configure the time grid. Specify:
    • the first day of the week in the drop-down menu,
    • the working days by clicking on the days of the week (if certain half-days are non-working days, these will be determined later),
    • with a click, turn off the days on which no activities are scheduled (if certain half-days are non-working days, these will be determined later). The grayed-out days will never appear in EDT.
    • the breakdown of the day by selecting a number of time sequences and their durations. The total duration must cover the entire day, from when the institution opens until it closes.
    • specify the number of sequences per day and their duration, making sure to include the midday break and taking into account any late-afternoon meetings. The total duration should cover the entire day, from when the institution opens until it closes.
    • the time step according to your actual needs. The more a sequence is broken down, the harder the timetables are to read and manage. For example, if teachers' classes are always 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes long, dividing the sequence into 2 parts is sufficient.
    • divide the sequences into 2 (30-minute time steps) if your courses are 1 hour, 1 hour and 30 minutes, etc., or into 4 (15-minute time steps) if some courses are 45 minutes, etc.

      Note
If you have already worked with an EDT Single-user base, simply confirm the time grid without paying too much attention to it: the time grid defined in EDT will be imported when the base is initialized.
  3. Click on Validate.
  4. In the next window, enter a name for your database, then validate.

  5. Click on the button Activate to make the base accessible from a Client (EDT or PRONOTE).

Step No. 5: Downloading and connecting to preconfigured Clients

You connect to the base using a Client EDT and a Client PRONOTE, which must first be installed on your workstation.

  1. Click the panel Clients in the console.
  2. In the rubric Install or distribute the Clients of PRONOTE and EDT, click on the links:
    • Install the Client PRONOTE and Install the Client EDT: once on the Index Education Website, depending on your operating system, download the Client, then follow the assistant's instructions.
    • Apply the connection parameters: once downloaded, double-click the configuration file for each Client (files named ParamClient).

      Note
The installation file and connection parameters can be saved on a USB drive for installation on other workstations.

Connection parameters can also be entered manually. Click on the button Add the address of a new server, then, in the configuration window, enter the IP address and the le TCP port indicated in the panel Clients of the console. RNE must be replaced with your school's identification number (a code consisting of 7 digits followed by a letter).
In the rubric Server's name, indicate a designation of your choice (name of your base, RNE, etc.).

  3. Click on the connector displaying your institution's RNE, which is now available on every Client.
  4. In the connection window, verify the connection mode: as a superadministrator, you connect in Administrative Mode.
  5. Enter the username and password you entered in Step 3, then click the button Connect.

  6. During your first connection, by default, the institution requires you to set a PIN code. In the window Strengthen the security of my account, use the numeric keypad to enter your PIN code (at least 4 digits) the first time, then confirm the PIN code by clicking on Validate each time.

  7. When you connect from a new device, the software will always ask you to enter your PIN code. If the device you're connecting from is used only by you or people you trust, tick I add this device to the list of my registered devices and give it a name (Office, Laptop, Secretary's Office, etc.). Click on Next.

    Note
From the Client, you can change the selected security measure, the PIN code, as well as the devices registered in the menu My preferences > Security > Protecting my account.
  8. You'll be taken to the Client's home page. In the title bar, you'll see your name and the name of your base in brackets.
