  • Why can dual authentication of voters lead to additional costs?

If you wish, you can strengthen access to the election platform with dual authentication.

If dual authentication is activated, voters will have to enter a secret code on the platform to access it.

This secret code can be sent either by e-mail or by text message—all users can choose between these two methods; you cannot impose one or the other on them.

Secret codes sent by e-mail do not incur any additional costs. Those sent by text message, on the other hand, incur a cost of €0.07 excl. tax per unit (in mainland France) – for more information, see this page.

In principle, only one SMS is required per voter—however, please note that a second SMS may be sent at the voter's request if the first message is not received.

Dual authentication is mandatory for polling station staff. Text messages sent to them are included in the license: you will not be charged for any text messages sent for this purpose.
