  • How to improve security and prevent hacking of PRONOTE accounts?

Here are our recommendations for strengthening security and preventing identity theft.

Recommendation No. 1: Follow CNIL recommendations for passwords

Currently, the CNIL imposes on users a minimum size of 10 characters and 3 complexity criteria:

  • At least one special character
  • At least one letter
  • Mixing upper and lower case letters

Verify the rules defined in PRONOTE by going to the menu Parameters > General options > Security.

Caution, rule changes apply only to future customizations. To ensure that all passwords quickly comply with the new rules, it is necessary to force passwords to be changed.

Recommendation No. 2: Encourage the use of dual authentication

Double authentication is an effective security measure that requires teachers and staff to enter a 4-digit PIN code when logging on from a new device.
In practical terms, this prevents a student who has stolen a teacher's password from logging on from home.

You can propose or impose this double authentication in the menu Parameters > General options > Security.

Recommendation No.3: Make sure you have one user = one account = one password

To find out who has performed a malicious action, make sure that each user has his/her own account.
For example, don't use a single "AED (Educational assistant)" account for all Teaching assistants.
