  • Is it possible to ignore certain courses in order to increase placement opportunities?

Yes. If courses overlap the session, EDT considers them as priority by default: the calculator will not place a committee at the same time as a course if the latter already occupies one of the participants. You can remove this constraint by indicating that the course has no priority, or even cancel it directly to clear slots.
  1. Go to the display Class committees > Committees > Lists of committees and courses.
  1. Select a session: the problematic courses are displayed on the right-hand side of the screen.

  2. In the column Priority, click on a course icon until the wanted status is displayed:

    • Priority course : EDT will not place committees with resources in common with the course;
    • Non-priority course : As a last resort, EDT may place a committee in the time slot occupied by the course;
    • Canceled course : EDT will be able to place committees in this slot. The canceled course will be marked Class committee.

By default, canceled courses that partially overlap the session are canceled in their entirety. If you want to keep classes in the slot where there is no class committee, click on the button Maintain the partially canceled courses after the schedule has been created. For example, if a class runs from 4pm to 6pm and the session starts at 5pm, you can hold the course from 4pm to 5pm.
In the case of co-teaching, EDT considers by default that one of the two teachers may exceptionally be absent.
