  • Manage the rules for the personalization of passwords (EDT Network)

When first logging in, EDT users use an automatically generated temporary password. They personalize it according to the rules defined in EDT. By default, these rules comply with CNIL (French Data Protection Authority) recommendations. You can verify this in the menu Parameters > Options > Security.
In 2025, EDT strengthens security criteria and imposes three default rules for all users:

  • passwords must be at least 12 characters long.
  • at least 3 complexity criteria are required.
  • the password expiration policy is mandatory, with a default expiration period of 12 months.

In practical terms, at the start of the 2025 academic year, passwords that do not comply with these rules will be renewed by users as and when necessary:

  • users whose passwords have expired will have 30 days from the first login with their expired password to update it,
  • users whose passwords have not yet expired will receive notifications inviting them to change their passwords 10 days before they expire.
  1. Go to the menu Parameters > Options > Security.
  2. To change the configuration for a user type, select it on the left and modify the security rules on the right.

  3. Select the profile on the left. If necessary, modify the rules to comply with CNIL recommendations.

Caution, rule changes only apply to future personalization. To ensure that all passwords used quickly comply with the new rules, it is necessary to force passwords to be changed.
