  • Offer dual authentication

Dual authentication is an effective security measure that requires teachers and staff to enter a PIN code (minimum 4 digits) when logging on from a new device (and only in this case). By default, double authentication is offered to users when they log on for the first time, but it is not compulsory. You can choose precisely which measures are proposed to staff and teachers at this stage.
  1. Go to the menu Parameters > General Parameters > Security.
  2. Dans la rubric Security policy for Teachers and Staff, tick the measures you want to propose:
    • for optimum safety, only tick Enter a PIN code.
    • to ensure minimum safety and give users an alternative, tick Enter a PIN code and Notification of connections which, at the very least, warns you if a connection from a new device is detected.
    • it is not advisable to only tick No additional measures.

Double authentication is normally an effective and easy-to-use measure. If you find that users are systematically asked for double authentication (and not just from a new device), you need to configure the browsers of the concerned devices.
